The Advanced Immunohematology Workshop 2025 was successfully held on 6-7 September 2025 at Kolej Teknologi Makmal Perubatan, Institute for Medical Research (IMR), Kuala Lumpur. This two-day workshop was organized by the Malaysian Blood Transfusion Society (MBTS) and Pusat Darah Negara (PDN), in collaboration with IMR, Bio-Rad, and Biomed Global.
The workshop brought together a total of 34 participants for an intensive program featuring both theoretical lectures and hands-on practical sessions. The event also featured five distinguished speakers who shared their expertise across various advanced immunohematology topics.
Key topics covered included red cell antibodies and hemolysis with DAT interpretation, antenatal serology challenges focusing on weak D variants and HDFN, complex antibody identification cases, secretor status studies, antibody titration for transplantation and immunodeficiency, and managing daratumumab interference in serological testing.
The workshop provided participants with valuable hands-on experience in resolving complex antibody cases, performing secretor studies, accurate antibody titration techniques, and managing anti-CD38 interference. The program concluded with an interactive case-sharing session, allowing participants to exchange technical approaches and clinical perspectives with fellow attendees and speakers.
